Art appraisal or sell art: two reasons Sarasota and Florida collectors call
Appraisals
I need a documented value
For your insurer, an estate, a divorce or a charitable gift: a USPAP-compliant report with the right type of value and date.
Selling
I want to sell art
One painting or a whole estate: find out what you have, what it may bring, and the best route to sell, with no pressure.
Process
Simple, personal and clear
Start with photos from your phone. Fees are quoted upon request, with no obligation.
Send photos & details
Use the form to upload a few photos (front, back, signature, labels) and tell us what the appraisal is for.
Quote & scope
Fees are quoted upon request, based on scope. You receive a written quote and a clear scope: purpose, type of value, effective date and what the report will include.
Inspection & research
Austin examines the work in person or reviews documentation as the assignment requires, then researches comparable sales.
Your written report
A USPAP-compliant report with descriptions, photographs, methodology and the value conclusion you need.

FAQ
Common questions
How do I request an appraisal quote?
Use the form to send a few photos and a short description, or call. Austin Helmuth reviews every request personally and replies with a written quote and next steps.
What is the difference between an insurance value and a selling value?
An insurance appraisal usually reports retail replacement value, what it would take to replace the work. A selling value reflects what it would likely bring at auction or in a private sale, which is often lower. You need the right one for the right purpose.
Do you serve all of Florida?
Yes. Helmuth Art Advisory is based in Sarasota and serves collectors across Florida, prioritizing Sarasota, Palm Beach, Naples, Tampa Bay, Miami and Orlando. Request a quote and Austin will confirm arrangements for your location.
I have just one painting. Can you help?
Yes. Single works are welcome, whether you need an insurance appraisal or want to sell.
Do you authenticate artworks?
No. An appraisal is an opinion of value, not an authentication service. Helmuth Art Advisory does not authenticate artworks or issue certificates of authenticity. Where authorship is in question, we can explain what type of expert or authority to consult.
Are your appraisals USPAP-compliant?
Yes. Appraisals are prepared to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice by Austin Helmuth, a member of the International Society of Appraisers.
